I asked Anne, the beautiful mother of this Victoria BC family photography session, what her favourite part of it was. She told me she loved being at home in her family’s own environment. This is so important because I can’t say enough: photos are visual history.
Studies show that as adults, we don’t have memories of our lives before the age of 3. Imagine then why photographs are so vital and precious. They are the puzzle pieces that help you put together the earliest stories of your life. How beautiful it is to look back and be able to see you and your mom cuddling on the couch, in the very first house YOU ever lived in.
And what other stories unfold from that one photo of you and mom on the couch…? Maybe it was the first house your parents lived in together? What does the toy in the picture say about you at that age? What kinds of things were you learning and observing then? A photo reveals so much.
Thank you Anne and Kent for welcoming me into your home and photographing your beautiful family.
