Your wedding can be whatever you want it to be. There are no rules. Make it as unique as you are.
That is what I loved the most about Lauren and Connor’s Merridale Cidery Wedding. There were some traditional aspects to their wedding, but they also infused a lot of their own distinct ideas of how they wanted their day to unfold, which made their wedding all the more special to them and their guests.
Lauren is such a beautiful free spirit, so I’m not surprised at all to have seen things done a little differently. They had two ceremonies! They had the legal- signing the papers-but no less heart warming- ceremony, with a very small group of people just before their ‘main’ ceremony. It was incredibly intimate. The onlookers stood with their arms around one another, with tears of joy flowing down their cheeks, as Lauren and Connor took this first step in officiating their bond.
The second ceremony of Lauren and Connor’s Merridale Cidery wedding was more traditional- walking down the aisle, bridesmaids and groomsmen, exchanging rings and vows. But even so, the uniqueness popped up here too, with their little ring bearer and flower girl wearing fairy wings (freaking adorable!), two close friends who came up to smudge (bless) Lauren and Connor, and they had a very close family friend perform the ceremony.
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, and especially when there’s family involved, there can be a lot of expectations on how you ‘should’ have your wedding. I think it’s incredibly important to stay true to you and your partner when planning your union. Just because something is ‘traditionally’ done, for example a cake cutting, or a first dance, if it doesn’t suit you, then don’t do it. You’ll thank yourself later. When you look back at your photos, you want to remember all the things you did to honour YOU and YOUR PARTNER, not remember the things you did ‘just because’.
Thank you so much to Lauren and Connor for doing things your own way, and having me document it 🙂 Click here to get in touch about your own unique wedding 🙂
