Engagement photos are so special. They mark a very pivotal moment in your relationship- obviously the engagement- the commitment you’re making to one another! But they can also represent so much more when you look back on them years down the road. For example, for Danielle and Aaron’s Sooke Engagement Session, it marked a big shift in their lives together. Danielle was moving to Victoria from Vancouver, where her and Aaron had their life together, to start a school program for the next few months. It was a big transition, living away from each other for a short while, and also Danielle starting down a new career path.
These engagement photos were taken at East Sooke Park, a location previously unfamiliar to Danielle and Aaron. They had described to me what they wanted in terms of location and landscape for their session, and East Sooke Park seemed the perfect fit. You may have read from me in the past how much I think the location of your engagement session should be meaningful to you… I want to clarify that doing it somewhere you’ve never been can also hold great significance. For Danielle and Aaron, although they may never have been to East Sooke Park before, now any time they go back, this park will hold so much meaning to them. It will remind them, not only of their Sooke Engagement Session, but also the transition period where they persevered living apart from one another, and where Danielle’s new career all began.
Thank you so much Danielle and Aaron for having me document this very special time in your lives together!
