When you hear the word Goddess, what do you think of?
I think of innate femininity, strength, wisdom, and beauty. I think of timelessness and transcendence. Purity and power.
What is a proud moment in your life when you have pushed yourself beyond what you thought you were capable of? How did you feel before & after?
A recent time I pushed myself beyond what I thought I was capable of was during my practicum. To graduate it was a requirement that I lead a therapy group, and because I have a phobia of public speaking, this was a terrifying prospect. However, I managed to complete the 8 weeks. I felt beyond scared and anxious before, but after, I was relieved and proud. It showed me that I was able to do something I never thought I could do. Even though it wasn’t perfect, I tried my hardest and as a result it was a very empowering feeling.
What is your connection to nature?
My connection with nature is very valuable to me and I place a great deal of importance around getting outside. I feel most connected with nature in quiet moments, especially when I am hiking in the forest or swimming in a lake. In these moments, I am the most grounded, calm and peaceful. It allows me to reset and to remember the importance and value of being present and mindful. Connecting with nature on a regular basis is a critical component of my physical wellness and mental health.
When faced with fear, how do you overcome it?
When faced with a fear, it usually takes a great deal of cognitive persuasion to get me to overcome it. I start by recognizing the fear, why I have this particular fear, where it started, why it started, etc. From there I am better able to identify the core belief that may be informing me around this fear.
This helps me to realize that the thing I feared might not have as much power as I previously believed, or that the fear is from the past and perhaps not as relevant in the present. I also look to others for strength and inspiration. Noticing people that I admire facing their own fears helps me to take chances and to push myself.
What do you think is the value of having these Goddess photos of yourself?
I think it will be nice to have these photos to look back on later in life. They will remind me of that summer, and also represent a time in my life that I did something outside of my comfort zone. They are also valuable to have as a gift for your partner. I printed some off for our anniversary and it was a nice and unexpected surprise.
