Imagine planning a wedding with a 19 hour time change difference? That was the challenge Brittany and Julian faced for their Rustic Wedding Sorrento. A Canadian and an Irishman, living in New Zealand, planning a wedding in British Columbia. Luckily they found the incredible High Country Tree Farm venue.
High Country Tree Farm is an all-in-one venue nestled in the peaceful Shuswap country in interior BC. British Columbia has no shortage of stunning rustic wedding venues, but what really stands out about High Country is all in the details. Heritage carpets, vintage suitcases, billowing curtains, classic furniture, antique mirrors… Karen and her team at High Country are very intentional and meticulous about every elegant little thing, and it shows. They create a breathtaking and impressive experience for their clients and guests. It makes the 19 hour time change planning a little easier.
As a wedding photographer, I’m on the outside looking in, but with a unique vantage point… I learn things about my clients through my own personal interactions with them, but also through observing their interactions with their family and friends. I see the tender way they hug their loved ones, and I hear the intimate stories told about them. In this way, I feel like I ‘know’ my clients, in a strange, but very special, one-way relationship sort of way.
I met Brittany and Julian a couple of years ago at another wedding I photographed (Yay Jenna & Toby!!). I had a small chance to observe Brittany and Julian then, as they stood out to me at Jenna and Toby’s wedding because they were both amazing dancers, and seriously lit up the dance floor.
From the moment they contacted me about photographing their wedding, with my special wedding-photographer-vantage-point, this is what I’ve learned about Brittany and Julian… I know they are very thoughtful people. They are both very intentional and gentle with their communication and behaviour towards others. It seems extremely important to them that their family and friends feel loved and seen, and likewise their friends and family greatly respect, and look up to them. And I know it takes a lot of grace and patience to organize a wedding in Canada from New Zealand… And I was absolutely honoured to have been a part of it. Thank you Brittany and Julian!
Also, I have been very fortunate that this year’s pandemic chaos has NOT affected my 2021 wedding season, so please get in touch about your wedding next year!
